He was born in 1590, at the very time of the forging of the great rings. When, deceiving the Elves, Lord Sauron forged a master ring. With this Ring he meant to enslave the world. Elnaur was born of human mother and Elven father, his mother dying as his life began. Sorrow filled his father, in grief could not remain in the White City; he needed the company of his own kinsfolk and so he took his child to live in Imladris where the peaceful lives of the Elves would soothe his troubled heart. In their company the child grew to manhood, learned in the way of the Elves. Tall and slender he favoured his father in stature but he had his mothers auburn hair and her brown eyes.

Even in Imladris there was no escaping the growing threat from Sauron, his evil stretched to the very borders of the secret realm. As Elnaur grew he felt the growing threat, away from the borders great horrors befell the peoples of Middle Earth, for the Dragon hoards awoke and ravened the populations of the lands to the east of the Misty Mountains. Dragons had at one time lived in peace with their neighbours, but with the growing power of Sauron they fell to evil. All peoples learned to fear Dragons many were killed by dragon hunters even those who had once been friendly fell to axe sword or bow.
